Hypnotherapy Helps With Weight Loss

By Dr. Randi Fredricks, Ph.D.

Hypnotherapy can help you to lose weight naturally and easily. It is probably the healthiest way to lose weight if incorporated properly into a healthy lifestyle plan. It is certainly one of the most natural ways to lose weight. This seems to work on two levels.

Firstly, hypnotherapy helps you to let go of all the bad habits and false beliefs that stopped you losing weight before. For instance, eating too quickly and eating too much are bad habits and eating to feel happier is based on a false belief. Secondly, and far more importantly, hypnotherapy helps you move forward by developing new habits and new beliefs.

The reason most people fail at weight loss is that the approach that they use is just too simplistic. Dieting alone will end in failure for most people. How you eat and how it affects your body weight depends on many factors. For example:

  • Family training
  • Mood and emotions
  • Habit
  • Quality of your diet
  • Sensitivity to different foods
  • Knowledge about food
  • Exercise level
  • Genetic predisposition, etc.
Programs that do not take a number of these factors into consideration are going to have only limited success. Limited in either the amount of weight you lose or how long you can keep it off.

Hypnotherapy (done right) affects subconscious factors such as family training, mood/emotions, habits and exercise level. Diet programs alone are unable to do this. Even diet programs that include exercise programs are not going to work for most people in the long run.

Most people who come to us have tried diets and have failed. They have tried exercise programs too, and have also failed. This is both good and bad. Its bad because clients will come to us feeling frustrated because of past failures. The good news is that we don't have to educate them on how they should eat and exercise to lose weight. All we have to do is remove the subconscious programming that is getting in the way of their success.

Using hypnotherapy, you can remove the old programming that is causing you to eat out of habit, emotions, family training and increase your level of exercise. This is done through the use of hypnotherapy so that you can continue to reinforce continued success for the rest of your life, or work on almost anything you want to work on in the future (i.e., self-esteem, confidence, motivation, stress management, etc.).

In addition to doing hypnotherapy, it's helpful to do some education about the language of your feelings.

Weight loss should be natural and part of a well defined plan of who you are and who you want to be. We spend an awful lot of time consciously trying to not be something, or not do something. Hypnotherapy can help with weight loss and weight management in so many ways.

It can help you to develop a new self-image. You will still be you, but imagine being you in a happier, healthier, and lighter way!

It can help you feel much more relaxed, not only about food, diet and nutrition but about yourself. Overcoming stress will naturally help you to stop comfort eating and to adopt a much healthier attitude.

Hypnotherapy can also help you with positive thinking. Never underestimate what positive beliefs and an optimistic outlook will achieve for you. Sometimes it's difficult to be positive but then it's often not a conscious decision. It's a decision made on an unconscious level, just the kind of level where hypnotherapy works best.
