Combining NLP and Kinesiology

Combining the many benefits of Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) with kinesiology can produce a profound guide to unite mind, body and soul, thereby overcoming blocks to good health and reducing the impact of emotional stress.

Life's trauma can sometimes be too much to deal with emotionally at the time. The body puts it away until the dust settles and then may re-present it at a more peaceful time to be dealt with. Due to the time delay we don't always understand the connection and ask why now? Remember the unconscious mind (that controls nearly all body functions) is always doing the best it can. Sometimes we just don't understand the messages it is giving us.

Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP is a set of techniques, that help personal development. NLP is based on the idea that all language and behaviours (whether functional or dysfunctional) are highly structured.

Neuro - The mind and the nervous system. This is where we gather and process information from our 5 senses - Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic, Olfactory and Gustatory. This is how we gather information on the world surrounding us.

Linguistics - Language. This also means non verbal language - hand gestures, facial expressions, and internal dialogue.

Programming - patterns, programs and strategies that enable us to behave.

NLP is how to use the mind's own language to consistently achieve our own and desired outcomes.

A definition would be that the language we use creates and shapes the world that we live in, not describes it. The NLP techniques enable us to change, adopt, and eliminate behaviours as desired. It provides you with the skills and ability to choose your mental, emotional and physical states at will.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology has its roots in the early sixties with George Goodheart, an American Chiropractor. Dr Goodheart began muscle testing to evaluate muscle performance, posture and general structural imbalances. His continued research led to him to link the meridian energy flow with muscle and organs. This work also included discoveries of other corrective treatments. Goodheart developed this system which he called 'Applied Kinesiology' and shared this knowledge with other chiropractors and professionals.

Traditionally, Kinesiology (pronounced kin-easy-ology) refers to the study of muscles and movement in the body and is widely used in this context by physical educators, coaches and physiotherapists.

However, in the natural health field the term Kinesiology is seen and used in a wider context. Here, muscles become monitors of stress and imbalance within the body, "Muscle Testing" is used to detect and correct various imbalances in the body which may relate to stress, nutrition, learning difficulties, dyslexia, pain, injuries and so on.

No two sessions of treatment are the same, even for people with similar symptoms, because the person is treated as a unique individual.

You don't have to be ill to benefit from Kinesiology; it may well be possible to improve health, wellbeing, physical and intellectual functioning or potential, thereby p roviding exceptional care for the mind, body and spirit.

Kinesiology is a touch therapy that links traditional Chinese acupuncture, meridians and energy balancing with Western muscle testing and anatomy and physiology. The idea is to bring about balance in the body by releasing energy blocks, eliminating toxins, reducing tension and enhancing the body's natural healing ability. It is a system of natural health care that treats the person as a whole and restores balance.

Kinesiology in Conjunction with NLP

With used with NLP, kinesiology truly is a holistic therapy, treating as it does the person as a whole, working with the mind and emotions as well as the body to improve a person's well-being. It can help with a wide variety of health problems that affect the body's mental, chemical, structural and electro-magnetic systems. It can help change attitude, belief systems and behaviour. It can improve co-ordination, reading, writing, sports performance and artistic skills. It can help detect food intolerances, nutritional needs, allergies and addictions.

NLP combined with kinesiology is not a panacea but it does offer a very precise way of assessing and correcting imbalances. It is recognized and respected as a fundamental training for other kinesiologies as well as a healing modality in its own right. It offers a safe effective way to maintain health, enhance well-being and upgrade performance.

When used together, kinesiology and NLP can help you by:

  • taking your problems and issues seriously
  • being a detective - using the tool of muscle testing
  • working with you to discover the trigger for the problem arising
  • identifying where and how it has taken hold in your body and energy systems and what can be done about it
  • working with your body, nutrition, emotions, thought patterns and energy systems
  • working with you so that you can understand what is happening, and finding ways that can support all aspects of your health and well being
  • offering a completely holistic approach which is tailored to your needs -it's your body not just anybody
