Group therapy is a weekly workshop environment that allows group members to experience a wide range of work.
People will typically discuss a problem and look at it from various points of view. Individuals receive support
and are challenged to step out of conditioned roles. Group members assist each other in how their behavior and
treatment may influence people around them, both positively or negatively, by giving direct and honest feedback.
This helps group members learn what prevents them from getting close to significant others, friends, colleagues
and family members. Group members supplement their work in individual psychotherapy with group work.
My groups are characterized by a high level of interaction, energy and honesty as well as a safe place to experiment
with expressing all of your feelings. Group is also a working laboratory where newly learned negotiating skills can
be put to the test around conflicts that arise within the group. Rather than conducting groups with a single theme
and narrow scope (such as bereavement, recovery, etc.) my groups tackle a wide range of complex issues. I find
that this approach makes group a richer and deeper experience as members take on life's challenges.
In addition, I hold groups that have specific topics. Below are some examples of recent topics:
Achieving Emotional Intimacy
Express issues and feelings without losing your head — move toward wholeness and
individuation. A closer look at our inner realities. Balance inner and outer realities.
Communicating Wants and Needs
Make changes where needed and release your energy and creativity. A look at family of origin issues;
the masks we wear; the inner wounds; heal the negativity of the critical self.
Separate your needs from the needs of others — clarify them from an "I" position.
Explore, create emotional boundaries within a relationship.
Exploring Relationship Issues
Identify and explore types of relationships — empowering, controlling/submissive, addictive.
Grief Group for Divorce & Separation
Deal with early loss of a partner or spouse, go through emotional trauma, grief, and loss in a group setting,
work through stages of grief, and come to a place of healing and acceptance.
