Natural Therapies

I promote a body, mind, spirit approach to health that includes a concentration on emotional introspection, spiritual practice, healthy lifestyle, and loving relationships. My work is focused on providing guidance for conscious and healthy living in our increasingly busy world, as well as healing techniques for health challenges and wellness issues.

I can health you look at traditional medical alternatives or complementary and alternative ones. Often, one of the most difficult challenges in facing a health problem is determining whether to do traditional medicine, alternatives or complementary medicine, or a combination of both. I have a Doctorate in Naturopathy, which is the study of natural medicine. I also have a Masters in Psychology, which is useful to help create motivation in wellness.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine Therapies

My book, Healing & Wholeness: Complementary and Alternative Therapies for Mental Health provides a comprehensive overview of such treatments. Since receiving my Doctorate in Naturopathy in 2001, I have continued to pursue my education in alternative medicine in the area of mental health. Towards this effort, I am finishing my second doctorate degree, a Ph.D in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, with an anticipated graduation date of this June, 2011.

In addition to being a Naturopath, Psychotherapist, Certified Clinical Nutritionist, and Herbalist, I have received training and have experience in other complementary and alternative methods, including the following:

  • Clinical Hypnosis
  • Biofeedback
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Health & Wellness Advisor

A health and wellness advisor has but one interest in mind: keep you in a state of wellness, or get you there if need be. Areas of health that a health and wellness advisor helps with include the following:

  • Complimentary and Alternative Medicine
  • Disease Management
  • Diet and Nutrition
  • Fitness Education
  • Pre-and Post-natal Wellness
  • Smoking/Tobacco Cessation and Prevention
  • Stress Management
  • Weight Management
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Family Relationships
The first step is to do a health risk assessment. Based on these results, we develop a plan for modifying those health risk factors identified by the health risk assessment.

Common areas of interest include stress management, blood lipid correction, weight reduction, ergonomic counseling and nutritional planning. I strive to motivate you to establish goals and truly optimize current health status in hopes of a healthier future.

I also collaborate with a network of holistic psychiatrists, homeopathic practitioners, Naturopathic and Ayurvedic Doctors, nutritionists, chiropractors, Naprapaths, massage therapists, and energy workers to provide an integrated approach to healing.
