How I Practice Counseling and Psychotherapy
I have worked with people to alleviate the myriad of problems that come with
being human. Emotional pain, depression, illness, loss, regret, emptiness, transitions, recovery from family influences,
yearning for change, opening to love, forgiveness, self acceptance, activating one's spiritual practice, discovery of
the true self, and finding one's unique place in this world are a sampling of the issues I commonly help with.
I provide an integrative approach to psychotherapy by combining my extensive education, experience, and research into psychology and
natural healing, including a Ph.D. in Psychology and Doctorate in Naturopathy as well as numerous other accreditations.
My multi-disciplinary approach allows me to approach issues from
a truly holistic perspective, helping the people I work with to feel better faster
and appreciate lasting results.
My practice is divided into two primary areas; Individual Therapy and Couples Counseling.
In individual therapy, I draw from a variety of therapies that I learned from while studying for my Ph.D. and Masters in
Psychology and my Doctorate in Naturopathy.
The primary focus of my approach is to use natural medicine as a complement to traditional therapies.
My work is based on a large body research - including my own - which is discussed at length in my books.
My approach to therapy is a combination of compassion and expertise that puts you at the center of everything we do together.
Advanced psychotherapy treatment combined with unique supportive therapies give you treatment options you may not even know exist.
In couples counseling, I employ a similar approach, using complementary methods to enhance traditional couples counseling theories.
I view couples therapy as deeply collaborative and I use a strong team approach to get rapid results.
We begin by establish a vision for your relationship, which incorporates the ideals of both partners.
I stay involved in the session at all times and will communicate to you what I see, feel, and think.
My office is a safe haven, where problems can be discussed without fear of pain, judgment or retribution.
Abraham Maslow said, "If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail." Similarly, a
therapist who knows only psychology has just one type of tool in their toolbox. Because of this, traditional therapists tend to see
emotional or psychiatric problems as rooted in a client's psychological make-up. In reality, we are a combination of mind, body,
and spirit, and a purely psychological approach to psychotherapy only addresses one aspect of who we are.
By adding other evidenced-based methods to my tool box, I developed methods that provide remarkable results.
Many of my clients experience significant change in as quickly as one session.
Having been in therapy for many years, I understand the importance of feeling genuinely cared for and supported, while at the same
learning new ways to change behaviors and beliefs that are no longer useful.
As a therapist, I offer a deeply human, healing partnership.
This sensitivity combined with spontaneity makes my work kind, swift, exciting, and enlivening.
My approach to therapy is pure, simple, and extraordinarily effective. To achieve consistently outstanding results,
I tailor each therapy session to meet the immediate needs of my client.
One of the therapists I most admire was Milton Erickson, who said "I create a new therapy for every client."
It is my guiding principle that each person is unique and needs to have therapy custom made just for them.
For example, if you are seeking complementary methods to reduce the side-effects of your medications,
we can combine natural therapies with traditional psychotherapy.
If a strictly psychological approach to therapy is called for, we will draw on the psychological theories
best-suited for your particular challenge.
This well-rounded and personalized approach ensures that you will get the most appropriate and powerful evidenced-based therapies available.
