Weight Management

Just the mere word 'diet' implies something you do temporarily. You diet against your normal eating patterns which are controlled by your unconscious mind. You may lose weight, but it is usually only temporary. As soon as you stop dieting, your old eating habits and beliefs return again and your body goes back to what it was doing before the diet.

Your unconscious mind holds all your beliefs and habits concerning food. These are beliefs and habits you may not even be aware you have, and it is these that keep the weight on your body.

Your unconscious mind is very powerful, so no matter how hard you try to break a habit at a conscious level of mind, the unconscious will always win, eventually causing you to go back to what it considers 'normal' behavior for you. Through psychotherapy, we can speak directly to your unconscious mind and speed up the process of change by altering your negative beliefs and habits. And even though your unconscious mind is more powerful than your conscious mind, it readily accepts new information when you bypass what we call the Critical Factor, which is what happens during therapy.

In order to make true, permanent changes in your life, it is necessary to get your unconscious mind in agreement with what you want to accomplish, rather than fighting and struggling to work against it. Regular support in therapy is the perfect way to build more healthy eating patterns and maintain high motivation, and is the key to the truly remarkable results possible.

Weight is usually a symptom of an underlying issue. In therapy we can address these issues. Common weight related issues include:

  • Emotional issues
  • False body image
  • Negative thinking
  • Early childhood habits
  • Improper nutrition (are you a fast food junkie?)
  • Information overload; What food is good/bad for me? What should I count? Carbohydrates? Fats? Protein? Calories?
  • Lack of motivation to exercise
  • Not drinking enough water
  • Snacking
  • Eating too quickly
  • Eating late
  • Skipping meals
  • Binge eating
  • How much should I weigh?
Examples of some of the benefits you can expect to gain:
  • Remove your desire to over eat
  • Healthy eating
  • Form a positive self image
  • Avoiding certain foods
  • Produces stronger feelings of inner strength and determination
  • Reduce your stress level
  • Love to exercise regularly
  • Improve your feel-good factor, confidence and positive thinking
  • Occasionally weight gain can be caused by a past event; uncovering and healing this can help
  • There can sometimes be a unconscious reason why you stay fat, Hypnosis can replace weight gain with something far more healthy
